Privacy Policy

Plain English first: we collect as little as possible, we sell nothing to anyone, and your customers' data belongs to you, not to us.

LAST UPDATED: 30 JULY 2026

1. Who we are

SAORA (“SAORA”, “we”, “us”) provides point of sale software for retail and hospitality businesses, operated from Ireland. This policy covers the saora.ie website and the SAORA platform, including the back office at app.saora.ie and the SAORA POS and Waiter applications. For privacy matters, contact info@saora.ie.

2. Data we collect on this website

The saora.ie marketing website collects no personal data unless you choose to contact us. It sets no advertising or analytics cookies. If you use the demo request form, the message is composed in your own email application and sent by you; we receive only what you send.

3. Data we collect when you create an account

When you sign up for SAORA at app.saora.ie we collect the details needed to provide the service and to meet Irish business requirements:

  • Your name, email address and password (stored as a secure hash).
  • Business details: trading name, legal name, entity type, registered address, phone number, and CRO or VAT numbers where applicable.
  • Records of the consents you give at signup, with their version, time and originating IP address.

We use these to provide and support the service, to verify and approve new accounts, to invoice you, and to meet our own legal obligations. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Your business data, and your customers

Sales, products, stock, staff records and customer records that you create in SAORA are your data. For that data we act as a processor on your behalf: we store and process it solely to provide the service to you, under your instructions. You remain responsible for how your business collects and uses your own customers’ information.

The platform includes tools to help you meet your own obligations, including the ability to permanently anonymise a customer’s record on request.

5. Payments

Card payments are processed by our regulated payment provider under your own acquiring agreement. SAORA never receives or stores full card numbers; our records keep at most the last four digits, the card scheme and the transaction references needed for settlement matching.

6. Where data lives and who helps us

SAORA runs on established cloud infrastructure providers within the European Union wherever possible, under data processing agreements. We share personal data only with providers needed to run the service (such as hosting and email delivery), only to the extent required, and never for their own marketing.

7. Retention

We keep account and business records for as long as your account is active and afterwards only as long as law requires (for example, financial records retained for Revenue purposes). Sales records are core accounting data and are retained for the statutory period even if an individual account closes.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict or object to processing, and ask for a copy in portable form. Write to info@saora.ie and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

9. Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and, for significant changes, tell account holders directly. The date at the top is always current.
